Welcome

Welcome to Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of the San Juan Islands (DVSAS San Juans), where we are...

Challenging Abuse and Changing Lives

We are a non-profit agency serving the residents and visitors of San Juan County, a beautiful cluster of small community islands located in the northwest corner of Washington state, up near the Canadian border.

Our mission is the prevention and elimination of domestic violence and sexual assault through victim services, education, community awareness and cultural and social change.

Domestic violence affects people of all backgrounds and is a serious public health and safety problem with many consequences for individuals and families. A survivor asking for help is assumed to be in need of understanding, support, information, and a wide variety of resources to help facilitate changes in her or his life.

All of our services are free and confidential, and our agency serves people regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, income status, creed or sexual orientation. We help survivors use their own strengths and abilities so they can experience their full potential. Our goal is to provide holistic survivor-centered services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

DVSAS believes no one deserves to be abused. Domestic violence and sexual assault are crimes. Options and alternatives are available. The utilization of the police, judicial system and community-based programs can stop the cycle of domestic violence and stop the continuance of sexual assault.

The US Department of Justice reports that approximately 85 percent of reported domestic abuse victims are women. However, abuse also happens to children, to men, to elders, and to those in gay and lesbian relationships.

It doesn't matter who you are, we are here to help. Please contact us with any questions.
